Refugee Numbers Break New Record With 'Millions Trapped in Conflict Zones'

As wars raged in 2014, an estimated 38 million people across the world were "forced to flee their homes by conflict and violence," setting a new record high for internal displacement, according to just-released figures compiled by the Norwegian Refugee Council's Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC). These data indicate that, on average, 30,000 people fled their homes each day last year.

The Community Development Society (CDS) International Annual Conference is taking place July 19-22, 2015, in Lexington, KY. Register by June 20 to take advantage of the special early bird rate. Finally, my co-editor, Michael Rios and I are pleased to announce the release of the latest Special Issue of the journal Community Development titled "Community Development and Democratic Practice."
